Dr Sian Kerr is a fully qualified, accredited (HCPC, BPS) and experienced Clinical Psychologist. She offers both short-term and longer-term individual therapy. She can help you explore issues, understand what has been holding you from leading a fuller and richer life, gain relief from present symptoms, develop resources to cope and bring about some positive changes. Her approach is integrative and is tailored to suit your particular needs. Dr Sian Kerr also helps her clients find and develop self-help tools and resources for their improved well-being.
In her practice she generally uses:
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) to help treat post-traumatic stress, panic attacks, phobias, obsessive behaviours, and to process past experiences such as childhood trauma and abuse
- Mindfulness, to learn to disengage from unhelpful thought patterns which often maintain depression and anxiety
- CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
- Schema Therapy
- ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
Training, Qualifications & Experience
Dr Sian Kerr is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and chartered by The British Psychological Society (BPS). She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology in 1999 at the University of Durham and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2010 at the University of Edinburgh. She has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings and specialises in individual therapy with adults. She has also completed the necessary training to supervise Trainee Clinical Psychologists and has experience of supervising psychologists and providing consultancy to non-psychologist mental health professionals.
